Biography
Rens de Man is Water Partner, specialised in water and climate governance with Water Partner Foundation. Over the last 20 years Mr De Man has built up broad professional experience as strategic advisor, researcher and project manager in varying international contexts. His country experience includes among others: India, Australia, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Israel, Jordan, The Netherlands, Palestine, Thailand, Yemen, Zanzibar. Mr De Man published and presented various papers at international conferences. Through his background in water governance, political sciences and water diplomacy, Mr De Man contributed both solid knowledge and the skills to operate constructively in politically sensitive environments. He gained a strong expertise in groundwater governance in Gujarat and India through his PhD research in India, which focused on the multilevel policy and institutional changes in groundwater governance. This research is due to be finished.
Mr De Man has substantive experience in conducting evaluations, scenario studies and financial management. On basis of the evaluations, he quickly translate the assignments with the partners into concrete possibilities for achieving future policy goals, given the international donor context and the developments in the international water sector. Key to his approach are his commitment to the assignment, the thorough problem analysis and his sense for administrative relationships. As a result, Mr De Man has repeatedly succeeded in removing resistance and creating support for a successful collaboration.
