The mission of Water Partner Foundation is to develop and mobilise key expertise in good governance and sustainable management of the global water and energy resources and the environment.
Challenges in terms of climate change, the energy transition, rapidly growing water demands, flooding problems and droughts and increasing threats to water, air and soil quality pose all heavy responsibilities on the shoulders of today’s governments, authorities and the society at large.
The relationship between water and energy has always been strong. Such as with hydropower as source of green energy, or conversely the high energy requirements of desalinating seawater into drinking water. With the current energy transition, this relationship has been further intensified, since clean and fresh water has become an indispensible source of hydrogen, the eminent new clean green energy carrier. In addition, biofuel factories, carbon capture and storage projects and nuclear power plants are all very water-intensive undertakings. This may lead to an increasing competition with more traditional water functions, such as for drinkwater, industries or for agricultural purposes.
Water Partner Foundation is a non-profit organisation, established as a partnership of internationally renowned and independent professionals who support and reinforce each other in their international work. The Water Partners provide efficient solutions and contribute to global dissemination of relevant knowledge and experiences in good governance, financing and sustainable management of the world’s fresh water resources, sustainable energy and the environment. This website presents the capabilities of the joint water partners and provides information about the projects and activities in which these professionals have been involved.
